George Russell (Retired, Lap 28): 6.5/10
George Russell's unblemished record of F1 finishes came to an emphatic halt last time out in Singapore, and unfortunately he crashed out in Sochi as well. This time it was the result of a sudden mechanical failure that resulted in the Williams locking up and ploughing into the tyre barrier at turn 8. It was a shame for the youngster who had been showing some good pace up to that point, working his way up to 13th place by the time he retired having started from 17th on the grid. Prior to the race itself, Russell had once again proved himself against his team mate - he was consistently a full second faster than Robert Kubica in FP2, FP3 and qualifying - and he came encouragingly close to catching Kimi Raikkonen in Q1. After keeping his nose clean all weekend, it was cruel luck to be pitched into the barrier mid way through the race. We can only hope that one day he will be able to show what he can do in a superior bit of hardware.
