F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Japanese GP

Lance Stroll (P11): 7.5/10
Lance Stroll was able to match his Racing Point team mate in first practice but then lost ground to Sergio Perez on Friday afternoon. However it was a different story in qualifying, Perez failing to get out of Q1 while Stroll put in one of his stronger performances of the season to take up 12th place on the grid for Sunday afternoon's race. From there, Stroll picked up five places over the first four laps of the race, before his sole pit stop of the afternoon and a change to the medium compound. He successfully recovered the lost positions, but the tyres started to degrade with ten laps to go and he ended up haemorrhaging places in the final laps. Perez crashing out on the penultimate lap appeared to have handed Stroll a valuable championship point, only for a timing glitch to shorten the race by one lap and restore Perez to the top ten, ironically at Stroll's expense. Overall though it was a solid, battling, largely mistake-free performance by the Canadian this week.
