F1i 2015 season preview

Motor Racing - Formula One Testing - Test Two - Day 1 - Barcelona, Spain

Sauber

The first test at Jerez saw Sauber in the top two on the timing screens at the end of each day, with the Ferrari power unit looking like a significant step forward from its 2014 effort. However, Sauber has often set eye-catching times in the past in order to attract sponsors, and the driver line-up of Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr - both bringing big budgets - would point to that being the case again.

Both drivers are capable of delivering for the team this season, with Ericsson having had a year’s experience with Caterham and Nasr moving across from his role as Williams reserve. Encouragingly, the final two tests saw impressive mileage completed - with Sauber boasting the highest lap total across the final four days - but race pace was not as strong as the headline times suggested.
