Force India has opted for a relatively safe approach in terms of its 2015 design, with the VJM08 similar to last year’s car following a build which was beset by delays. The car only ran for the first time with two and a half days of testing remaining, but it ran reliably and consistently straight out of the box.
The raw pace doesn’t seem to be there at this early stage, but the car’s predictability and similarity to last year’s VJM07 means Force India is able to get a lot out of it in race trim at an early stage, with lap times over long runs comparable with Sauber. How much development potential there is within the car remains to be seen.
