Pastor Maldonado - 10th place, 1 point - 7/10

Old habits die hard for Maldonado. His qualifying performance has been a mystery this year as he again dropped out in Q1, saying the car was too difficult to drive on the limit. In the race he staged a strong recover - like team-mate Grosjean - but he received a five-second time penalty for causing a collision with Marcus Ericsson. An overly optimistic lunge in to Turn 1 saw Maldonado hit the left rear of the Sauber and spin the Swede, an error which looked to have cost him the final point as Verstappen passed late on. Massa’s exclusion promoted him in to the top ten.
