Oscar Piastri, McLaren (P2) 8/10
Piastri was probably the fastest driver on track on Sunday, but just like in Austria some bad fortune prevented him from winning the Grand Prix. A ten-second penalty for his hazardous braking on the second Safety Car restart was a bit harsh, but some sort of penalty was definitely warranted, no matter how upset the Australian was by the decision. Until then, he had carved out a sizable 13-second lead before the first Safety Car and looked set for victory. Racing isn’t always fair, and mistakes do get punished.

Lando Norris, McLaren (P1) 9/10
Norris has looked more mature outside the car and more confident inside the car since the Austria weekend, and this translated into victory at his home race at Silverstone. Yes he got a bit lucky that his teammate received a time penalty, but the 25-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong in the Grand Prix and kept his MCL39 firmly in control in tricky conditions, putting any home pressure in the back of his mind until he crossed the finish line. It was a satisfying first British Grand Prix win for Norris, and he will be hoping for many more to come in the future.
