George Russell, Mercedes (P10) 6/10
Considering the lack of pace from Mercedes at Silverstone, Russell did very well to place his W16 on the second row of the grid. But several poor strategic decisions prevented the Briton from scoring a decent haul of points. First of all, coming in for slick tyres at the end of the formation lap was a bad choice as the track was still too damp, and he made the exact same mistake late on in the Grand Prix, falling out of the points and spinning through Becketts and Chapel on lap 40. He did well to claw himself back into the top ten, all things considered.

Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin (P9) 7/10
Alonso bemoaned unfavourable strategy calls during his race around Silverstone, but all in all it was a job well done from the veteran Spaniard. He lost a few positions from his starting grid slot of P7, but did well to hold onto the top ten after a gamble for slick tyres on lap 38 didn’t pay off owing to the still wet conditions on the circuit.
