Far from being a washout, a little rain at Hockenheim transformed the German Grand Prix into one of 2019's most sparkling events so far. There was so much going on it was hard to know where to look at times. So sit back and come with us as we dive into the detail of this week's race, driver-by-driver...

Sergio Perez (Retired, Lap 1): 6/10
Racing Point came into the German Grand Prix with high hopes for their package of new aero upgrades on the RP19. They seemed borne out by solid performances in all three practice sessions for Sergio Perez, and confirmed by getting through to the final round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon where he picked up eighth place - his best grid position since Baku back in April. Unfortunately the race day rain was not Perez' friend, and the rear of the car aqua-planed out from under him and left him in the tyre wall after just a single lap. "I made a mistake, I've thrown away a great opportunity today to score big points for the team," he said afterwards, an evaluation that was proven correct by the success of his team mate Lance Stroll almost two hours later.
