Gutierrez essentially ruined his chances of a good race at Turn 1, not for the first time this season. Struggles when the brakes are cold, feeling the bias moves forward and caused the fronts to lock up immediately, forcing Gutierrez to aim for a gap that was always closing. Contact with Hulkenberg and Rio Haryanto damaged his front wing and floor, and while the wing was replaced in the pits the floor impacted on his pace for the rest of the race.
