Best of the rest with P7 in Q3, Carlito was third at the conclusion of lap one. He was soon overtaken by Ricciardo and the Ferraris, but was keeping Bottas at bay, with Magnussen sandwiched between the Renault and Mercedes when he lost power and two places. Lance Stroll’s puncture, which set off the Virtual Safety Car, saved Carlos from dropping even more positions.
