Ricciardo’s run may have seemed dull compared to Verstappen’s but he was running with far more downforce, this with less top speed. He was stuck behind Sainz early on, and then the flaps on his front-wing were damaged - perhaps by debris - before and after his single pit stop. The Aussie was then a sitting duck for Raikkönen who was shod with the faster super-softs.
