Technically speaking, the FW41 was a dog at Le Castellet, whimpering at the bottom both in qualifying and in the race. Stroll, who was once again bested by Sirotkin in qualifying, did get a better launch off the line. After he suffered a huge flat spot when Vandoorne overtook him, Lance’s left-front tyre exploded a few laps from the flag, prematurely ending his day.
