Valtteri looked strong at just a 10th of a second off Hamilton in qualifying. At the start he tried to give Vettel room, but it was for naught. Send tumbling down the field following the contact and the subsequent puncture, his run up the order wasn’t as brilliant as the Ferrari driver’s, and a slow pit stop due to a damaged floor didn’t help his cause. However, he did clock the fastest lap in the race, but the VSC prevented him from having a go at Magnussen for P6.
