The Scuderia’s botched on inters at the start of Q3 resulted in a waste lap. Two driver errors later and Vettel was P9. Ocon’s penalty put him on row four at the start. On lap one he picked up three spots and was gifted another when Verstappen ran into Räikkönen. Despite knowing Max had a five-second penalty to serve for his contact with Kimi, Seb still tried a bold move on the Red Bull at Spoon that ended with a spin. What followed was an impressive run through the field to sixth place, but his bid for a fifth title has now become an insurmountable task.
