Brendon qualified a career best sixth at Honda’s home race. But the superb Saturday turned sour on Sunday for the Kiwi. When the lights went out, he dropped four spots, then a fifth when Sainz got around. With a crucial lack of grip, he was 17th after his tyre swap at half distance before having to stare at the back end of Ericsson’s Sauber for the remainder of the afternoon.
