Monza was another race where Rosberg took full advantage when Hamilton's start let him down. The gap between the two was ominous on Saturday as Hamilton took pole by nearly half a second, but it was Rosberg who led at Turn 1 as his team-mate dropped to sixth. Hamilton struggled to get the better of Bottas and was 15s behind Rosberg by the end of the opening stint, leaving the German to cut the championship gap to just two points.
