Rosberg's run was halted by a controversial clash with Hamilton at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix. While Hamilton took pole, Rosberg secured the lead at Turn 1 with an excellent move around the outside of his team-mate. However, Rosberg was in the wrong engine mode and was slow exiting Turn 3, moving to the inside to defend as Hamilton attacked and the pair collided, retiring in the gravel.
