More controversy between the Mercedes team-mates came on the last lap in Austria, and saw Rosberg lose what would have been one of his best wins. With a gearbox penalty seeing him start sixth, Rosberg fought back thanks to a different strategy and was leading Hamilton at the start of the final lap when he made an error at Turn 1 and then failed to turn in at Turn 2 as he defended the inside line against his team-mate. The contact broke Rosberg's front wing, seeing Hamilton go on to win and relegating the German to fourth at the flag, with a 10-second time penalty for good measure.
