The pressure of a championship lead could have told at Suzuka as Rosberg dropped behind Hamilton in qualifying having had the edge but he pulled out a good final lap to secure pole by 0.013s. Another poor start for Hamilton demoted him to eighth on the opening lap and Rosberg could again manage his pace to take victory, with Hamilton recovering to third.
