His weekend got off to a rocky start when he made hard contact with a wall. In Q2, he made a minor error, but still didn’t have the car to move on to the top ten shootout. Overtaken by Gasly at the start, he had a nice duel with the Toro Rosso driver until the Frenchman stopped for new Pirellis. Charles was up to ninth and stayed there for the remainder of the evening in what he called the most physically demanding race of his young career.
