After setting the pace in FP2, Kimi struggled to get the most from his tyres and was not happy to finish fifth in Q3. On Sunday, he admitted to becoming bored as he never had a clear track. He spent the 61 laps chasing Bottas and caught up to the Mercedes driver when he began to struggle with his car's tyres. He lost aerodynamic grip whenever he got close however, and never had a serious look at making a move.
