Had Carlos not gotten hung up in the last corner, where he lost 0.2s it would have been him and not his team mate in the Top Ten shootout. After a great launch off the start line, Sainz went too wide at Turn 1, which led to a harsh five-second penalty. Thankfully, it didn’t have a big impact on his race, and he probably would have been hard pressed to overhaul the Hulk. Renault scored by far its best collective finish of the year and is now 22-points clear of Haas.
