Lewis Hamilton (pole, P3, 15 pts): 9/10
Lewis was in a league of his own in the rain on Friday and in Saturday's qualifying. But on Sunday, his intimidation move on Kimi didn’t work and the Ferrari was quickly ahead of him. It is easy to understand why the pit wall switched to a two-stop plan during the VSC, but the second stop should have come when he was 17 seconds ahead of the Iceman and not 8. On fresh rubber, he came storming back but couldn’t find a way past Verstappen in what was a thrilling battle to watch. No damage done to his championship bid, which should be settled next weekend in Mexico. And he seemed genuinely pleased to have been able to do a bit of racing, despite not winning his fifth US GP.
