Daniel Ricciardo (P4, 12 pts) 8.5/10
The final outing for Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull - his 100th for the team and his 150th in Formula 1 in total - started with a bit of a shock when he lost a place to Charles Leclerc on the opening lap. It was only a temporary setback, however, with the Sauber making an early pit stop. Ricciardo himself was going long on his first set of ultras, and as those ahead of him made their stops he rose up the order and claimed the lead on lap 27. He held onto it for the next 15 laps in the vain hope of an opportunity to come from the showers passing over Yas Marina. Eventually he dropped back to fifth place with his own switch to supersofts to close out the race. That was probably as much as he had been expecting from the day, but he got a late bonus when he passed the struggling Valtteri Bottas for position on lap 39 after which he held station behind his team mate all the way to the chequered flag. The Aussie was probably relieved that the RB14 was simply able to last the full race distance for once, and had not let him down as so often in the recent past.
