F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2018 Abu Dhabi GP

Fernando Alonso (P11): 8/10
It wasn't so much the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend as the Fernando Alonso Farewell Performance. You couldn't walk through the paddock at Yas Marina without tripping over some tribute or other to the two-time world champion as he exits the sport - perhaps permanently, perhaps just for a break. Alonso himself was just keen to enjoy his time, celebrating getting through to Q2 in qualifying and then putting in a typically ebullient performance on the track on Sunday. His hi-jinks earned him a rebuke from the stewards in the form of no less than three five-second penalties for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, but what did such trifles matter? The only thing missing from the whole experience was a point or two which would have pushed him through a career total of 1,900. Perhaps that's the sort of unfinished business that will lure him back in 2020?
