F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2018 Abu Dhabi GP

Romain Grosjean (P9, 2 pts): 7/10
Romain Grosjean had been thrilled to be 'best of the rest' with a brilliant lap in the final round of qualifying on Saturday. He duly lined up on the grid in seventh position, quickly picking up an extra place when Max Verstappen went backwards at the start. But then there was that collision with Nico Hulkenberg at the turn 9 chicane: while the Renault undoubtedly came off the worse for it, Grosjean's VF-18 was also carrying damage for the rest of the race which meant that just getting to the end in eighth place was a significant achievement. Even so, the Frenchman will need to focus on keeping out of such unnecessary incidents in 2019 if he's to improve on this year's campaign which has been a little too 'eventful' for his own good at times this year.
