Lando Norris (P8, 4 pts): 7/10
It's fair to say that the second half of Lando Norris' maiden season hasn't quite been a match to the impressive first, but the rookie is still doing a solid job for McLaren despite a few more setbacks. Both he and team mate Carlos Sainz looked decent enough in the wet first practice on Friday, but Norris severely lacked pace in the afternoon and was down in 18th place by the finish. While he was looking better on Saturday, he was still annoyed to miss out on making it through to the final round of qualifying - especially since Sainz had already been eliminated with engine failure. He then dropped two places at the start of the race to Daniel Ricciardo and Antonio Giovinazzi before steadying the ship and finding his way around Kevin Magnussen on lap six. Even so, it all appeared to be quite hard work for Norris and he wasn't able to find anything like the sort of form that Sainz was proving able to wring from the MCL34, admittedly with the benefit of a brand new power unit. After dropping back to 14th place with his final pit stop under a safety car, it looked like points remained out of reach for Norris until the two Ferraris obligingly took each other out of contention. A two lap sprint finish then enabled him to clinch eight place thanks to Alexander Albon's tangle with Lewis Hamilton on the final lap. Maybe not one of Norris' best performances of the season, but he put in the work and ground out an important four points for the team all the same.
