F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Brazilian GP

Daniil Kvyat (P10, 1 pt): 7/10
Daniil Kvyat's 'torpedo' nickname might have originally come about due to his early tendency to take out rivals with rash strikes, but in Brazil it seemed more appropriate to the way that he ran 'deep and silent' for much of the weekend before popping up in a points-paying position at the end of the race. After a mixed time in Friday's practice, he was deeply disappointed to be eliminated at the end of Q1 due to a mix of lacking balance and making some minor errors of his own on the key push lap. Starting from 16th place he then lost places to lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz in the first two laps. Thereafter he made up places before his first pit stop on lap 23 plunged him all the way back down again; the same pattern repeated itself at his second stop on lap 46 and it seemed that the Toro Rosso was hitting the ceiling everytime it peaked in 13th place. That was where he took the final restart, and the young Russian had a terrific final two laps which saw him pick up three places before crossing the line, giving him his very own championship point to keep him warm as he watched his team mate Pierre Gasly celebrating on the podium - a reminder of what Kvyat himself achieved in Germany back in July.
