F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Brazilian GP

Charles Leclerc (Retired, Lap 66): 7.5/10
Let's be quite clear about this: our marks for Charles Leclerc and his Ferrari team mate are a reflection of the dim view we take of the out-and-out epic fail that occurred on lap 66, when contact between the pair dumped both of them out of the race instead of going on to sensibly pick up fourth and fifth place as they should have done. While we agree with the FIA stewards that it was a racing incident and that blame has to be shared (if not entirely equally) between both drivers, we're inclined to consider Leclerc the lesser of the two offenders. Even so, it has to be said that Leclerc pressed too hard, and his attack produced an instinctive reaction from Sebastian Vettel when a moment's pause would have allowed cooler heads to prevail - along with time for a management message from the pit wall to settle things. It's a shame, because Leclerc had worked hard to overcome his ten-place engine penalty to put him within reach of the podium, and his damage limitation strategy of starting the race with a 29-lap run on mediums had played out rather well. The late decision to make second stop on lap 54 for soft tyres could well have clinched third place, if only the Ferrari boys hadn't fallen flat on their faces instead.
