Manor racing director Dave Ryan said Haryanto was unlucky in qualifying as Daniil Kvyat’s crash prevented him from having a chance of reaching Q2, and the race didn’t come his way either. Started on the softs and was intending to run long but an electronics problem slowed him and then Manor opted to pit under the safety car to try and get him back in the race. Was ahead of team-mate Wehrlein at the restart but needed to do two stints on the supersofts and the extra stop ensured he was adrift at the back.
