Lando Norris (P11): 6/10
Lando Norris was the 'nearly man' of Monaco this weekend, so close to nudging into the points but always ending up missing out by the smallest of margins. He was narrowly ahead of his McLaren team mate Carlos Sainz at the end of Thursday, but the positions were reversed on FP3 which was a portent for qualifying in which Norris narrowly missed out on joining Sainz in Q3. He then lost a couple of positions off the grid at the start of the race although he was eventually able to recover those positions and ended up in the top ten for a long stretch, before tyre concerns saw him caught and passed by Daniel Ricciardo on lap 48. After that there was no alternative for him except to trail the Australian all the way to the finish, but at least he had the satisfaction of staying on the lead lap while all those behind had been caught and passed by the race winner. The teenager insisted he was happy with his day, but missing out on the points clearly rankled.
