F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Monaco GP

Antonio Giovinazzi (ITA) Alfa Romeo Racing C38.

Antonio Giovinazzi (P19): 4.5/10
Things have really soured alarmingly rapidly for Alfa Romeo. Last year the team made huge strides as Sauber, and their strengthened links with Ferrari through their new naming rights sponsor was supposed to build on that this season. But instead the team seems to be falling backwards week by week. Monaco's practice sessions actually wasn't bad for the team and both Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen were both in or around the top ten, but the wheels came off in qualifying where they only just made Q2 and then Giovinazzi made it worse by impeding Nico Hulkenberg which earned him a three place grid drop. Desperate to make amends, he then punted Robert Kubica into a spin early in the race which saw him receive a hefty ten second penalty that dumped him at the back of the field - where he remained. Even given Monaco's unique overtaking-defying nature, to finish behind both Williams in a race is pretty much the ultimate humiliation for any driver in 2019.
