Pierre Gasly (P5, Fastest lap, 11 pts): 8.5/10
Have you noticed how no one is talking about Pierre Gasly underperforming anymore, or about his place at Red Bull being under threat? That's because he's staring to settle in nicely in the team, and his driving is maturing with every outing. Of course there's still the problem that he's always being overshadowed by his formidable team mate Max Verstappen, but even here things are getting closer - the Frenchman was actually a tenth faster than Max at the end of Thursday practice. The pair were still quite evenly matched on Saturday, but a penalty for Gasly for impeding Nico Hulkenberg dropped him to eighth on the grid giving him some work to do while Verstappen went on a play date with Lewis Hamilton at the head of the field. Gasly quickly regained one of his dropped positions with a nice move on Daniil Kvyat at the start, and he stayed out under the safety car to gain two more before switching to mediums on lap 27. He eventually found himself running in fifth place, and with no one in sight behind him he had the opportunity to make a second stop without losing a place which enabled him to bolt on a second set of soft tyres allowing him to stage a successful campaign for the fastest lap bonus point. And after all that, he finished just one place behind Verstappen - which is rather good going all things considered.
