Jolyon Palmer - DNF - 6/10
A home grand prix to forget for Palmer, who had been solid if unspectacular before his retirement. Fared well in the wet and moved ahead of Magnussen at the first stop, before closing in on Romain Grosjean ahead of him on intermediates. However, his second stop saw the car released before the right rear wheel was attached and Palmer had to be dragged back to the pit box to rectify the issue, costing him a lot of time and resulting in a penalty. Two laps down, Renault retired the car to protect his gearbox.
