Sebastian Vettel - 9th place, 2 points - 7/10

Vettel was always likely to struggle from 11th on the grid due to a gearbox penalty, especially on a  track where Ferrari’s lack of overall downforce was brutally exposed. Made no progress in the opening two stints so was first to gamble on slick tyres and it looked likely to pay off before Vettel spun at Turn 1 two laps later. That demoted him to 12th but Fernando Alonso made the same mistake and then Vettel got past Daniil Kvyat with a good move at Stowe to move into the points. The handling of his Ferrari was highlighted by the clumsy manner in which he passed Massa, with both cars running wide and Vettel getting a five-second time penalty which fortunately didn’t cost him a position.
