Lando Norris (P11): 7/10
Heading into his first home Grand Prix as a Formula 1 driver, Lando Norris' smile could have given Daniel Ricciardo's trademark high beam grin a run for its money in terms of wattage this weekend. Also buoyed up by confirmation of his contract extension at McLaren for 2020, the teenager finished Friday in sixth place on the timesheets as the 'best of the rest', and carried that form through into Saturday. Although eighth place on the grid was a bit of a drop off, at least he had made it into the final round of qualifying unlike team mate Carlos Sainz. But unfortunately for the rookie, fortunes switched around on race day: despite a nice first lap pass on Daniel Ricciardo, Norris lost out in the first round of pit stops and passed up the opportunity presented by a safety car, meaning he was completely undone by the need for a second stop on lap 36. It left him far too much ground to make up in the remaining time available.
