Sergio Perez (P17): 5.5/10
It was a case of 'tough luck' for Sergio Perez on Sunday, who before that had enjoyed a solid day in Friday's practice sessions that helped him avoid the ignominy of a first round elimination in qualifying. It meant he started the race from 15th place and he enjoyed some good progress over the opening laps, reaching as high as eighth place before it was time for his scheduled pit stop. Unfortunately the timing blew up in his face, as a safety car was scrambled soon after that pretty much wrecked his race strategy. Added to that, an issue with his steering wheel contributed to the Racing Point running into the back of Nico Hulkenberg at the restart forcing a second stop for a new front wing that put him right at the back which is where he dejectedly remained for the rest of the afternoon.
