Alexander Albon (P12): 7.5/10
Finishing outside the points at Silverstone was a rather cruel outcome for Alexander Albon, who had been at least as good as his Toro Rosso team mate all weekend. He was ninth fastest in Friday's practice sessions and only dropped a place in FP3, setting him up to make a successful run to the final round of qualifying and a ninth place grid position - for once, blissfully unaffected by power unit penalties. He lost out to Nico Hulkenberg at the start of the race and dropped like a stone with an early pit stop only to subsequently see other more fortunate drivers gain from a 'free' stop behind the safety car. An electrical issue on the STR14 prevented Albon from taking any advantage from the situation himself. Nonetheless he managed to recover much of the lost ground and was soon back in the points, where he remained until an engine issue saw him haemorrhage places to Nico Hulkenberg and Lando Norris in quick succession in the final two laps.
