Sergio Perez (P7, 6 pts): 8.5/10
A top ten finish for Sergio Perez at Monza had appeared somewhat unlikely from the outset when the Racing Point crashed at the start of FP1 due to the tricky wet conditions. The afternoon session wasn't all that great either, with Perez almost two seconds off the top time. While things improved on Saturday morning they went pear-shaped again in qualifying, when an engine failure for the second week running meant he would be starting from the back of the grid on Sunday. No no sooner had the race got underway than he found himself rear-ended by Max Verstappen due to heavy congestion heading into the first chicane. Fortunately the RP19 wasn't significantly damaged and didn't need to pit, allowing Perez to make good progress during the opening laps, climbing to 11th place by lap 6. Having opted to start the race on mediums he went for a long first stint, finally pitting on lap 27 by which time he had successfully worked his way into the top ten. He then had his hands full holding off Max Verstappen for the rest of the afternoon, but he was successful in his mission and went on to cross the line in a most commendable seventh place despite all those setbacks.
