Valtteri Bottas (P2, 18 pts): 8.5/10
Valtteri Bottas was only ninth fastest in first practice, but the conditions on Friday morning were hardly representative of the rest of the weekend and it was good to see him back in the top four in the afternoon, albeit trailing his team mate. He was then ahead of Lewis Hamilton in final practice but lost his chance of going for pole in that shambolic finish to qualifying, meaning he started from third place. In the race, he almost got past Hamilton at the first corner but decided discretion was the better part of valour and pulled back rather than risk wiping both cars out - the right call. After that he bided his time, hoping that his longer first stint would give him the edge later in the race, and the strategy was duly vindicated when he passed Hamilton for second on lap 42. However he was unable to then carry that momentum into a successful attack on the race leader, leaving him feeling slightly deflated in second.
