Lewis Hamilton (P3, Fastest lap, 16 pts): 8.5/10
Lewis Hamilton wasn't really on top form at Monza, and indeed only headed the timesheets once all weekend when he pipped Charles Leclerc to the top in the second round of qualifying. While he did pick up a front row spot in that chaotic Q3 session, he almost lost it at the start to his team mate Valtteri Bottas as they went through the first chicane. After that he spent the first half of the race clamped to the back of Charles Leclerc's Ferrari, getting increasingly frustrated as the youngster used every weapon at his disposal to keep the lead - even if it meant forcing Hamilton off track at one point. All that hard pursuit took its toll and by lap 42 his medium compound tyres were dead on their feet, causing Hamilton up overrun the chicane allowing Bottas to take over the hunt for the lead. A late pit stop for fresh soft tyres gave him the opportunity to pick up the bonus point for fastest lap, a sensible decision in terms of the title battle, and the end to a solid if not sparkling weekend.
