Lando Norris (P7, 6 pts): 8/10
Lando Norris was deeply annoyed with himself after qualifying, in which he pretty much completely stuffed his final run having got all the way through to Q3 along with his McLaren team mate Carlos Sainz. "I am an idiot!" he said on live TV as he catalogued his series of errors, which is just the sort of lively candour that makes the teenager such a popular new figure within the sport. And of course, despite his 'brain fade' on Saturday he still started the race from ninth place. While things fell apart for Sainz in his first lap clash with Hulkenberg, the doors opened for Norris who kept out of trouble and immediately gained two spots. He went for a conservative first stint, pitting on lap 20 and then waited for the opportunities to come to him without forcing the issue. It might not have been the most eye-catching of drives - Lando himself admitted that the view from his cockpit had been a bit boring at times - but it was a productive one, and an important effort for McLaren as they bid to keep fourth place in the constructors standings over Renault.
