Daniel Ricciardo (P14): 7.5/10
It was a rollercoaster ride for Daniel Ricciardo this week, whose Singapore sojourn was defined by the MGU-K issue that saw him excluded from qualifying after securing eighth place on the grid, in itself a further display of the renaissance in Renault's power and performance in 2019. On Sunday, the Aussie was clearly on a mission as he attempted to prove that it was possible to overtake at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, and he provided much of the early excitement in the race while the leaders were dawdling around in tyre-saving mode. Having started from the back of the grid, his attempt to run long on the first stint saw him peak at an astounding third place. But the second half of the race went rather pear-shaped after the timing of the first safety car came just after he'd made his pit stop, which dumped him all the way back to 16th place. Pushing hard to retrieve something from the evening's efforts he then suffered a puncture as he tried to hurry his way past Antonio Giovinazzi, and that pretty much killed the rest of his race stone dead.
