Robert Kubica (P16): 7/10
Unfortunately it's been confirmed that Robert Kubica's time in Formula 1 will come to a close at the end of the season, so the clock is ticking for him to remind us of his true ability and dispel the biter taste of this year's struggles. Singapore went some way to doing that, with a solid showing from the Pole. FP1 saw him finish ahead of Charles Leclerc in the timesheets (the Ferrari driver suffered a mechanical issue and had limited running, but it's the thought that counts). He was at the bottom for the remainder of practice, but only three tenths slower than team mate George Russell in qualifying despite a fuel problem leaving him unable to make a second run in Q1, which was rather better than usual. When it came to the race he coped well with all the challenges and incidents that tripped up others including Russell, and he once again reliably brought the FW42 home in 16th place following some lively tussles with Grosjean, Kvyat and Stroll during the evening before a balance issue on his final set of tyres curtailed his fun.
