Stoffel Vandoorne - 10th place, 1 point - 8.5/10
As debut race weekends go, Vandoorne enjoyed a smooth and impressive one. The Belgian driver did not take long to get up to speed despite the late call-up and the fact he was driving the MP4-31 for the first time, catching the eye as he outqualified team-mate Jenson Button on Saturday. A slightly tentative start to the race saw Vandoorne lose a few places but he grew in confidence and pulled one notable move on Nico Hulkenberg in to Turn 4. Proved himself worthy of a seat on the grid in just one weekend. It won’t be his last grand prix start.
