While Hamilton had hit back in qualifying, Rosberg pulled a great move around the outside of Turn 1 to take a lead which he felt would prove crucial. However, the wrong engine mode saw him exit Turn 3 slowly and as he moved to the inside to defend from Hamilton, the closing speed saw his team-mate take to the grass and wipe both out. Ultimately you can apportion blame to both drivers, and his buffer over his team-mate remains intact.
