Hamilton was back to his best in qualifying with an impressive final lap which snatched pole, but that hard work was undone within four corners of the race. Noticing Rosberg’s engine mode error, Hamilton knew his best chance to regain the lead was out of Turn 3 but he timed his move just as his team-mate shut the door. Apologised to the team for both cars retiring - but made it clear he was not admitting fault.
