2016 Spanish Grand Prix - Driver ratings

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Spanish Grand Prix - Qualifying Day - Barcelona, Spain

Jenson Button - 9th place, 2 points - 7/10

Button’s second points finish in a row but the McLaren was lapped even without the two Mercedes cars in the race. The McLaren was not quick over a race distance, with both Force India and Toro Rosso showing better pace and ensuring the best fight for Button was with his team-mate. Unfortunately for him, Fernando Alonso retired in the second half of the race and Button looked likely to lose out to Daniil Kvyat but for the lack of pace from both Vettel and Ricciardo in the closing stages which ensured he was able to keep two front-runners between himself and the Toro Rosso.
