Carlos Sainz - 6th place, 8 points - 8.5/10
It would be easy to overlook the job Sainz did this weekend amid Verstappen’s victory, but this was a very impressive performance from the Spaniard given the circumstances. The Toro Rosso was strong in Barcelona and Sainz maximised its potential even with increased home expectations and the added interest around the Red Bull drivers. Qualifying was a good performance and he made a great start to run third on the road under the safety car, though the Ferraris soon jumped him. Bottas jumped the Toro Rosso in the first round of pit stops but realistically the Williams was a quicker car too and Sainz didn’t put a wheel wrong to score the best result of his F1 career so far.
