So the FIA confirmed yesterday that it will investigate further Sebastian Vettel's behaviour in last Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Before next Monday's hearing, perhaps the German would be well inspired to pen a letter of apology to the governing body, in which he owns up to a mistake he continues to ignore.
Because of the circumstances and the fact that Vettel's road rage against Lewis Hamlilton occurred at a very low speed, we don't believe a race ban is in the works, nor do we consider that it is warranted.
It's more likely the four-time world champion will face a proper chiding from FIA President Jean Todt in private, with a public reprimand and an order to acknowledge his foolhardy conduct, and own up to the mistake.
There's no doubt however that in the meantime, Ferrari President Sergio Marchionne will have already had a tongue-lashing word or two with his driver. So Vettel will be prepared... hopefully.
